Hélène Béland • Biography
return to collection

Hélène Béland was born in 1950 in Montreal and is married to artist-painter, Daniel Brient.

Hélène received her diploma in fine arts from CEGEP and planned on continuing her fine art studies at university. Her goal was to study figurative art but the university offered no traditional art programme at the time and directed her into design studies. She quickly realized that she would not achieve her artistic goals in a design programme and quit university before the end of her first semester.

Hélène went to California with her husband where she acquired all the fundamental skills she needed to create her beautiful life like art. In the early 1980's, she joined her husband in the establishment of the Mission Renaissance School in Montreal.

Today, Hélène divides her time between teaching, painting and travelling with her husband to Italy. Her work was recently featured in the January 2006 issue of International Artist.
